JNP, in association with Tauranga Aero Club, offers an aviation Gateway flying program for year 12 and 13 students.
Students undergo practical flying lessons that can be put towards a private pilot license. Students also gain exposure to Tauranga Airport operations, allowing them to identify various aviation careers that may interest them.
Students complete theory work through JNP and practical flying lessons through Tauranga Aero Club (total of 20 Level 2 credits).
Students interested in an Automotive and Logistics Engineering Pathway can do a Gateway Programme through MITO.
Some businesses students have completed a Gateway Programme with, in previous years include Tauranga Diesel services, AB Equipment, Bayride, and Dr Moto.
Students will complete theory work alongside their practical work experience, earning a micro-credential in Automotive Engineering through the M ITO Startup Ignition Programme (total of 21 Level 2 credits).
Domett Truck and Trailer is a leading truck trailer manufacturer specialising in custom design and built transport units.
Domett Truck and Trailer has proudly designed and built over 2000 truck and trailer units throughout New Zealand and Australia for a variety of industries. Domett Truck and Trailer is committed to building truck and trailer units with three principles: strength, durability, and payload.
Understanding the balance of these three principles while allowing for design, innovation, and technology ensures Dometts high quality, safe, and efficient builds.
Gateway programmes at Domett provide students interested in engineering and fabrication, electrical wiring, and painting with hands-on experience in the industry.
Students complete theory work through Competenz and 10 weeks of work experience at Domett Truck and Trailer.
Future Foodies Retail is a 10-day retail Gateway Programme in the workplace (Foodstuff Supermarkets - Pak N Save, New World, or Four Square.)
Students complete theory work (total of 18 Level 2 Credits) and a work experience placement. Students are encouraged to apply for employment and/or apprenticeship positions upon completion.
Future Foodies Butchery is a 10-day butchery Gateway Programme in the workplace (Foodstuff Butcheries - Pak N Save, New World, or Four Square).
Students complete theory work (total of 15 Level 2 Credits or 10 Level 3 credits) and a work experience placement. Students are encouraged to apply for employment and/or apprenticeship positions upon completion.
Good Neighbour provide practical opportunities for people to connect with and support one another so that lives, neighbourhoods and communities are transformed.
The Gateway programme works with the Good Neighbour Kitchen, focusing on educating and mentoring students to use food on hand to create nutritious meals, minimising food waste in landfill.
Students complete the Life Skills Programme, completing practical skills in the kitchen, learning to back a trailer, and how to operate a forklift.
Students complete both theory and practical work for a total of 21 Level 2 credits.
Intertruck was first established in 1995 under the name of Central Pacific International Ltd as an importer of International, Iveco, and Seddon Atkinson trucks for the Bay of Plenty region. In 1997, due to strong customer demand for the American International product lines, Central Pacific International entered into a distributor agreement with Navistar. The company was renamed to 'Intertruck Distributors (NZ) Ltd.' In 2021 Intertruck built a new head office and assembly plant, all in one location.
The head office includes a truck dealership, a parts distribution center, and new and used vehicle sales. In addition, it has a new truck compliance center and a C.O.F lane, independently operated by Vehicle Testing NZ.

The road transport industry employs over 50,000 New Zealanders and offers several career opportunities - including transporting goods, servicing and repairing vehicles, warehousing, distribution, logistics, and administration services.
A gateway placement with Mainfreight, students will spend one day of the week on-site at the Mainfreight depot in Mount Maunganui. Each week will be different, and for 10 weeks, you will have the opportunity to experience various roles within the company. Some of these include:
Experience working in the warehouse
Riding in Mainfreight trucks
Working with the truck mechanics
Understanding the ocean and air transportation logistics
Students will complete theory work alongside their practical work experience, earning a micro-credential in the road transport industry through the M ITO ShiftUp Programme .

Students interested in a Marine Pathway can do a Gateway Programme through MAST Academy New Zealand.
Some businesses students have completed a Gateway Programme with, in previous years include Nic de Mey yacht building, Marra Marine, MasterTech Marine, and Bay Marine.
Students complete theory work through MAST Academys Launch it Micro-credential, and 10 weeks of work experience at a Marine company. Students can earn a total of 15, Level 2 and Level 4 credits.
Students interested in a Plumbing, Drain laying or Roofing Pathway can do a Gateway Programme upon request.
The Warehouse, Red Shirts in Schools Gateway Programme is designed to give students a great opportunity to get hands-on experience. Students get to see what it is like to work in the retail industry and make useful professional contacts for when they leave school.
Students complete theory work (total of 23 Level 2 credits) and attend a work experience placement at a local Warehouse.
SEEDS (Students Entering Employment Developing Skills) is a Gateway Programme that gives students a chance to get valuable work experience in supermarket retail and help make the transition from school to career.
SEEDS is run through Woolworths, and students complete theory work (total of 22 Level 2 credits) and attend a work placement in a local Woolworths.
Students who have a connection to a company or a idea of a career path they would like to explore, are welcome to come down and discuss this with the Future pathways team.
Where possible we can organise and build you a Gateway Programme, allowing you to explore your career pathway and earn credits while remaining in school.
